The Laois Hospice Foundation was the gracious recipient of a cheque for €2,000 at a recent event in the Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow.
The funds were the proceeds of the hugely successful ‘Carols by Candlelight’ Service held in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Durrow in December which was organised by Vocem Darύ (Women’s Community Choir) and Fr Martin Delaney, Parish Priest, Durrow.
At the presentation Patricia Owens, Chairperson, Vocem Darύ thanked members of the local community who managed the collections and the refreshments on the evening of the service and members of the Lawlor Family (from Lawlor’s Garden Centre) who did an outstanding job on decorating the church for the service.
She also thanked Fr Delaney and Ann Moylan, Choir Director for their work in preparing the service.
The carol service was hailed as a huge success by all those who attended and was described by many as “a really special event.”
Accepting the cheque from Ann Moylan on behalf of Laois Hospice, Mary Delaney Chairperson Laois Hospice talked about the work of the Hospice and in particular the support given to individuals with cancer at end of life, as well as support for their families.
She said that the needs in the community were significant and that the donation would be put to good use.
Vocem Darύ, Laois Hospice and Fr. Delaney extend their thanks to the Durrow Parish Community for their kind generosity.
