Laois car business Joe Mallon Motors have been named as the Laois winner at this year’s Electric Vehicle Dealership awards.
These awards are an annual event organised by the SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) in order to “recognise and award excellence in the promotion and sales of electric vehicles in Ireland”.
Joe Mallon Motors, based on the Abbeyleix Road in Portlaoise, are main dealers for Renault and Dacia in Laois.
“Car dealerships are a vital part of the transition to clean and efficient transport,” said the SEAI in a statement.
“SEAI in partnership with Zero Emission Vehicles Ireland want to recognise and award those dealerships who are working to increase consumers understanding and experience of EVs and their uptake on Irish roads.”
Dealerships who participated in the scheme were judged across a range of criteria – including a mystery shopper’s experience in the showroom, the number and quality of staff training in electric vehicles, sales figures and the company website.
The county winners were announced this week and they will now go forward to compete for regional and national recognition alongside the winners from the other counties in the Republic of Ireland.
Joe Mallon Motors will now go forward to the Leinster section which will be announced at the Society of Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) dinner in February.
The four regional winners will then be in the running for the national award which will be announced at the SEIA energy show in March.
