Orla Cashen of Stillorgan, Dublin City and Portlaoise, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, 4th January 2024, in the loving arms of her daughter and in the kind and compassionate care of the doctors, nurses and staff at The Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her heartbroken daughter Aoife, by her doting grandson Adam, brother Ken, partner Eugene and by her extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Orla’s Life will take place on Wednesday (Jan.17) at 2.30pm in Colliers Funeral Home, Old Connaught Avenue, Bray. Donations, in memory of Orla, to Friends of The Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore. The family request that those attending the funeral wear colourful clothing.
Bridget (Bridie) Nicholson (née Higgins)
The Knocks, Ballyfin, Laois
The death has occurred of Bridget (Bridie) Nicholson (nee Higgins) 28 Margaret Road, Headington, Oxford and formerly of The Knocks, Ballyfin, Co. Laois. Died peacefully, in the presence of her devoted husband Sean. Beloved sister to Annie and the late Kathleen and brother PJ.
Deeply regretted by her beloved husband Sean, daughter Paula sons Gabriel and Alan, sister Annie (Carroll) St.Josephs Tce. Mountmellick, son-in-law Cliff, daughters in law Joan and Mandy, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Bridie will repose in Moloney’s Funeral Home, Mountmellick, on Friday, January 12th, from 6pm Recital of The Rosary at 7.30pm. Reposing in Moloneys Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13th, from 9.30am until removal at 10.15am to St. Fintan’s Church, Ballyfin, for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial after Mass in St. Fintan’s Cemetery.

Liam Cummins, Knockiel, Rathdowney Co. Laois and formerly Rahandrick, Clough, Co. Laois, January 11th. 2024, peacefully at the Midland’s Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Predeceased by his parents Bill and Daisy and brothers Laurence and John. Sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Anne, his adored family Caroline, Deirdre and Liam, sons-in-law Willo and Nick, daughter-in-law Esther, his cherished grandchildren Grace, Rowan, Finn and Tom, brother Kieran, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
Reposing at O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Rathdowney on Friday, January 12th, from 5pm pausing for prayers at 7.30pm. Removal on Saturday morning to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Rathdowney arriving for Requiem mass at 11am. Interment afterwards in Bealady Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
Marie Confrey (née Dowling)

Suddenly. Predeceased by her husband Paddy. Deeply regretted by her loving family Richard and Gillian, daughter-in-law Michelle, son-in-law Darren, grandchildren Rachel, Stephen, Emma and Sarah, the extended Dowling and Confrey families, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at Maher’s Chapel of Rest, Portarlington on Friday evening from 6pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Saturday morning at 10:10am (travelling via St Michael’s Park) arriving St Michael’s Church, Portarlington for Requiem Mass at 11am. Funeral afterwards to St Michael’s Cemetery, Portarlington.

David McDonald Derrydavy, Mountmellick, Co. Laois, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the care of the nurses and doctors in Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand. Sadly missed by his loving partner Flavio Villani and his devastated parents Peter and Elsie. Adored by his sisters Anna, Lizzie and Orla. His beloved nephews Billy and Jack and niece Lucy. Sadly missed by his bothers – in – laws John Ryan, John Kirwan and Gary Guilfoyle, his aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours and vast circle of friends.

The death has occurred of Eamonn, also known as Ned (Edward) Bambrick, Bawn, Stradbally, Laois. Peacefully, on the 9th of January, surrounded by his family, at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Predeceased by his sons, Brendan and John Joe.
Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Elizabeth (Lila), sons Teddy, Tom and Brian, daughters-in-law Julia and Concepta, grandchildren Edward, Thomas, Martin, Evin, Eoin, Amy and Sarah, great-grandchildren Aaron, Lila, sister Teresa, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at the Presentation Chapel, Stradbally, from 2pm on Sunday (14th January) with Recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Requiem Mass, Monday (15th January) at 12 noon in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally, followed by cremation in Newlands Cross Crematorium.

Fr. Eddie Lalor SPS, St Patrick’s Missionary Society, Kiltegan, Co. Wicklow and late of Raheen, Co. Laois, dioceses of Eldoret, Nakuru and Nairobi, Kenya, and former curate of Portlaoise Parish; died peacefully on January 9th, 2024, at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Agnes, his beloved sister Annette and brother P.J. Deeply regretted by his sister Eleanor Robinson, his nephews Patrick and Eddie, nieces Úna and Emma, grandnephews and grandniece Lorraine, the clergy and people of Raheen and Portlaoise, and by his Society family in Kiltegan.
Reposing in St. Peter and Paul’s Parish Church, Portlaoise 5.30pm-7.30pm, Thursday, 11th January. Funeral Mass in St Fintan’s Church, Raheen, Co. Laois, on Friday, 12th January, at 12.00 noon followed by burial at the adjoining cemetery.
