In February of 2023, the sad news broke of the passing of Seán Clear from Ballacolla.
Seán was just days away from celebrating is 25th when he lost his life in a tragic accident while working in New Zealand.
Seán had been living on New Zealand’s North Island since October of 2022.
To mark the one-year anniversary of his passing, Seán’s family and friends have organised a tractor and truck run, with all proceeds going towards the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating back to Ireland the body of loved ones who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances.
The event will take place at the Clough-Ballacolla GAA grounds, on Saturday, February 17. Registration 3pm.
There will be a raffle as well as refreshments and music in Coach O’Leary’s Pub afterwards.
Anyone wishing to buy a ticket for the raffle can do so here.
“We lost our beloved Seán in February of this year while he was living his dream, working and travelling the world,” the organisers said.
“His final spot was New Zealand, and the realisation of how far away from home he was after his accident came to the fore very quickly.
“We were lucky to be able to bring The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust in quite quickly, one phone call to Colin got the ball rolling to bring our boy home.
“We can never thank them enough for the great help they were to us, in the worst time of our lives.
“However, what we can do is help them to help the next family who find themselves in this horrific situation.
“We, along with our families and community, are holding a tractor and truck run on February 17, the first anniversary of Seán’s passing, and we hope you can join us.”
