2023 Remembered: In Pictures: Wild celebrations as St Joseph’s lift Jack Delaney Cup for first time since 2000

St Joseph's County Champions 2023 (4)

Back in October, St Joseph’s ended a famine as they defeated Portlaoise to bring Jack Delaney back to Kellyvile for the first time since 2000.

It wasn’t one bit pretty – but nobody in St Joseph’s cares as they claimed their first Laois SFC since 2000 yesterday.

As everyone expected, this was a real chess match where St Joseph’s timed their run to perfection.

They kicked the final two points of the contest to win by 0-7 to 0-6.

They had beaten Portlaoise earlier in the season and they took the confidence from that victory into yesterday.

The celebrations began straight away with the team arriving in Stradbally first where they visited The Vintage Inn and Dunnes Pub.

These are traditions after every game and St Joseph’s retained them last night.

After that, it was on the Pedigree Corner where we are sure the celebrations are ongoing.

Photographer Paul Dargan was there to capture the best of the celebrations.
