Portlaoise comedian, Jimmy Kavanagh – actor and writer comedy troop, Club Valentine – has become the new face of the TFI Leap Card.
The Leap Card is a way to pay for public transport across the TFI public transport network.
It is a re-usable, pre-paid travel card that can be used on services such as Bus Éireann, DART, Luas and many more.
Speaking to LaoisToday, Jimmy explained how he got chosen for the role.
He said: “The reason I got picked to do it was because they were looking for people to submit videos of themselves dancing.
“I’m not much of a dancer so it was more trying to make people laugh by dancing rather than making them impressed I suppose,
“I think they appreciated that I was able to go for it even with a lack of any actual skill.”
The campaign is a move by TFI (Transport For Ireland) to increase awareness of the Young Adult Leap Card across digital and print platforms.
Jimmy is also the former host of ‘Comics Talking Comics,’ a podcast where he spoke with other comedians about their shared love of comic books.
Jimmy is certainly not the only talented member of the Kavanagh family to make a name for himself.
His brother, Kean is a singer/songwriter who performed at the Electric Picnic last year.
Jimmy also comes from a GAA family, with his brother John representing Portlaoise, and their uncle, Mark managing the club to several county titles.
