DOUGLAS John (Joseph) Hawthorn Close, Newbridge, Co. Kildare and late of Portarlington, Co. Laois – 21st December 2023 (peacefully) surrounded by his loving family at Naas Hospital after a short illness. Predeceased by his loving wife Margaret (Peggy). Fondly missed by his dearest daughters Sarah (Foley), Maria (Morrison), sons-in-law Shane and Andy, grandchildren Fern, Cian, Felix, Iarla and Fia, sister Susan, brothers-in-law Tom and Oliver, nieces and nephews, extended family, relatives and friends.
Reposing at Anderson & Leahy’s Funeral Home, Newbridge on Tuesday, December 26th, (St. Stephen’s Day) from 5pm with prayers at 7pm. Removal on Wednesday, 27th December, at 10.30am to arrive at St. Conleth’s Parish Church, Newbridge for Mass at 11am. Mass can be viewed on https://newbridgeparish.ie/parish-church. Funeral afterwards to St. Conleth’s Cemetery, Newbridge.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Mill Lane Manor Nursing Home, Naas for the wonderful care and friendship they have given to John over the last 6 years.
Anne O’Sullivan
Blackrock, Dublin / Portlaoise, Laois
O’Sullivan, Anne (Sydney, Australia, late of Blackrock, Dublin and Portlaoise. Anne died peacefully surrounded by her family on 19th December 2023 in the wonderful care of Wolper Jewish Hospital in Sydney. Predeceased by her dad, Joe, in December 2020, Anne will be forever missed by her heartbroken mother Mary, sisters Deirdre, Mary, Breda, brothers John, Declan, Ciarán her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and all who adored her. Forever loved by her long-term companion, Jean-Louis, and very sadly missed by all her wonderful friends and colleagues.

William (Billy) Ramsbottom
Garryglass, Timahoe, Laois
Billy passed away suddenly but peacefully in his 93rd year at Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his wife Mary, brothers Sean, Noel and Fr Pat. Sadly missed by his heart broken family, sons Pat, Liam, JJ, Mellow and Karol, daughters Mairead, Patricia and Mary P, sisters in law Bríd, Marie Goretti, brother in law Michael, sons in law Donal and Dan, daughters in law Margaret, Deirdre, Fran, Linda, Irene and his 17 adored grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.
Reposing in Saint Michael’s Church, Timahoe (R32 X880) on Sunday (Christmas Eve) from 1pm to 5:30pm. Arriving for Requiem mass to Saint Michael’s Church, Timahoe for 1pm on (Saint Stephens Day) Tuesday, followed by Interment in Saint Michael’s Cemetery. Family flowers only. House private on Tuesday morning please.
Lucy Hyland (née Davin)
Bordwell, Ballacolla, Laois, R32 EY40
Lucy Hyland, (nee Davin), Bordwell, Ballacolla, Co. Laois, December 21st. 2023, peacefully at Blackrock Clinic, Dublin surrounded by her loving family.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Frank, sister Joan and brother Billy. Sadly missed by her adored family, Paul, Mary, David and John, daughters-in-law Elaine and Michelle, son-in-law Paddy Dalton, grandchildren Frank, Patrick, James, Bill, Louise, David and Harry, brother John, sister Mary, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
Reposing at her residence (Eircode R32 EY40) on Tuesday, December 26th, and Wednesday, December 27th, from 4 o’clock pausing for prayers at 7 o’clock both evenings. Removal on Thursday morning, December 28th, to St. Canice’s Church, Clough (Eircode R32 K003) arriving for Requiem mass at 11. o’clock. Cremation takes place afterwards at Mount Jerome Crematorium Dublin at 3.15 o’clock.
Jim (James) O’Connor
Ballyroan, Laois / New Inn, Tipperary
Died peacefully at home in Ballyroan on the 21st of December 2023 surrounded by his much loved children Sarah, Maria, James, Hugh and Christina, their mother Carmel and his partner Kirsty. Also survived by his adored grandchildren Katie, Nadine, Rory, Sophie, Ronan and Clodagh, daughters in law, sons in law, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and beloved red setters.
Also remembering his late parents Hettie and Sonny and brothers Peter, Ger, Fr. Noel, Tom and JJ.
Reposing at the Nuns Chapel Abbeyleix R32 KN53 from 5 – 7 on Friday 22nd of December with rosary at 7pm. Arriving at St. Peter and Paul’s Church Portlaoise for 12 noon mass on Saturday 23rd December with burial afterwards in St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.
Tom (Snowball) Brennan
Leeds and formerly of Monavea, Crettyard, Laois
The death has occurred of Tom Brennan (Snowball) Leeds, formerly of Monavea, Crettyard Co. Laois. Peacefully, after a short illness, at St Gemma’s Hospice, Leeds, surrounded by his loving family. Tom, loving husband of the late Dianne and father to Tony, Mark, Paul and Erin. Deeply regretted by his loving family, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
