October marked a historical occasion for Colt-Shanahoe as they claimed their first ever championship title as they defeated Trumera in the IHC Final.
History was made in O’Moore Park on Saturday night as Colt-Shanahoe were crowned Intermediate champions.
It was their first championship title since the two clubs amalgamated back in 2020.
The road to this point has been far from smooth with the team relegated from Premier IHC in 2021.
2022 saw them reach the semi final of the IHC where Mountmellick proved too strong in Mountrath.
Damien Walsh came on board this year and fortunes improved with a good league showing.
They topped their group with a game to spare and won their semi final against Clonad with a degree of comfort.
They originally met Trumera two weeks ago where a late Niall Sinnott free brought this game to a replay.
On Saturday, Colt-Shanahoe trailed by a point at half time, but three goals in the second half and electric performances from Nathan Dunne and James Keyes saw them run out comprehensive winners in the end.
The pair combined for 3-3 in the second half and played a huge role in putting Trumera to the sword.
Our photographer Alannah Foley was there at full time to capture the action.
