Tom (Snowball) Brennan
Leeds and formerly of Monavea, Crettyard, Laois

The death has occurred of Tom Brennan (Snowball) Leeds, formerly of Monavea, Crettyard Co. Laois. Peacefully, after a short illness, at St Gemma’s Hospice, Leeds, surrounded by his loving family. Tom, loving husband of the late Dianne and father to Tony, Mark, Paul and Erin. Deeply regretted by his loving family, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass on Friday 12th January 2024 at Saint Patricks Church, 18 Torre Cl, Leeds LS9 7QW. Donations appreciated for Leeds Irish Health and Homes and St Gemma’s Hospice, Leeds. Enquiries Tel +44 1132 480953.

Harold Lawlor
Floraville, Bridge Gardens, Durrow, Laois, R32X2P3

Harold passed away peacefully in his 101st year in the excellent care of the medical staff of St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his wife Sheila, brother Liam, son Billy and his grandsons Ronan and Glen. Deeply regretted by his daughters Dorothy, Cindy, Elaine, Karen and Jemma, his sons Harold, Oliver, Martin, Ron and Anthony, his sister in law Phyl, sons in law, daughters in law, his 31 grandchildren and his 47 great-grandchildren, his niece, nephew and a large circle of friends and neighbours.

Reposing at his residence (R32 X2P3) on Thursday 21st December 2023 from 12 o’ clock concluding with recital of Rosary at 7pm. Requiem Mass is on Friday 22nd December 2023 at 12pm in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Durrow (R32 CK11) with burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Laurence (Larry) Payne
Killeen, Mountmellick, Laois

Laurence (Larry) Payne, Killeen, and formerly Emmett Terrace, Mountmellick, Co. Laois died peacefully on December 19th, 2023, at St. Vincent’s Community Hospital.

Predeceased by his wife Marie, his parents Jack and May and his brothers Ollie and Sean.

Deeply regretted by his sons Garry and Jason, his grandchildren Noah, Imogen, Peter, Isaac and Penny-Kate, daughters-in-law Theresa and Hilary, sister Maureen, brothers Paul and PJ, sisters and brother-in-law, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Reposing Moloneys Funeral Home Mountmellick on Wednesday from 6pm. Recital of The Rosary at 7.30pm. Requiem Mass on Thursday in St. Joseph’s Church Mountmellick at 11am. Burial after in St Josephs Cemetery Mountmellick.

Aughduff, Camross, Laois

The death has occurred of Sean Cuddy, Aughduff, Camross, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, on the 18th December 2023, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Deeply regretted by his beloved wife Ann, and dear father to Sean Gerard, Fiona, Paula, Alan and Chris, his 12 adoring grandchildren, brothers, sisters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his home (eircode R32XA39) on Tuesday evening, 19th December from 7 o’clock, concluding with Rosary at 10 o’clock, also reposing on Wednesday afternoon, 20th December, from 2 o’clock, concluding with Rosary at 9 o’clock. Removal on Thursday morning to St. Fergal’s Church, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon, followed by Burial in the adjoining Cemetery.

Sr Marie (Martina) Walsh
Presentation Sisters, Mountmellick, Laois

Walsh. Sr. Marie (Martina) Presentation Sisters Mountmellick, Co. Laois – December 17th 2023, peacefully at Oakdale Nursing Home, Portarlington.

Predeceased by her parents John and Katie her brothers Sean and Fr. Flannan, her sister Sr. Imelda, her nephew Michael and niece Paula.

Deeply regretted by her brother Fr. Michéal CSSp Zambia, her sister Sr. Ita (Mercedes) Mercy Sisters Athlone her sister-in-law Peggy, her nephews Flannan and John, niece-in-law Marina, nephew-in-law Terry Mc Govern, grand nieces, grand-nephews extended family and her Presentation Sisters, past pupils and many friends.

Reposing at Presentation Convent, Mountmellick on Tuesday from 2pm – 5.45pm. Removal to St. Joseph’s Church, Mountmellick for Evening Prayer at 6pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 11am followed by burial in the Presentation Plot, Killina, Rahan, Co.Offaly.

Mary Claffey
Kilminchy, Portlaoise, Laois/Athlone, Westmeath

Mary Claffey, Kilminchy, Portlaoise and formerly Fardrum, Athlone, 16th December 2023, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her brother Paddy. Deeply regretted by her loving brother Tony and sister Anna. Loving aunt to Ethel, Damien, Justin and Miriam. Sadly missed by her cousins, relatives, extended family and neighbours, also her former colleagues and students in Portlaoise CBS.

Reposing at Keegan’s funeral home, Portlaoise, on Monday from 6.30pm until 8pm with rosary at 7.30pm. Removal on Tuesday to arrive at SS Peter and Pauls Church, Portlaoise, for 12 noon requiem Mass. Interment will follow in Cornamagh Cemetery, Athlone at 2.30 on approx.

Bernadette (Bernie) Grady (née Kennedy)
Ballaghmore, Borris-in-Ossory, Laois

Peacefully in the care of the Matron and staff of Villa Marie Nursing Home, Roscrea and in the company of her loving son.

Pre-deceased by her husband Billy and son Joseph and extended family members.

Deeply regretted by her loving son Michael, nieces, nephews, relatives, good neighbours and many friends.

Reposing in Tierney’s Funeral Home, Roscrea on Monday evening from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. Removal on Tuesday morning at 10.30am arriving in St. Moula’s Church, Ballaghmore for Funeral Mass at 11.00am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only donations if desired to Alzheimer’s Ireland.

Formerly of Killmullen, Portarlington, County Laois. Suddenly at his residence. Predeceased by his sisters Mary (Sr. Fergal MMM) and Annie Flanagan. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, son Tomas, daughters Catherine and Ann-Marie, sons-in-law Derek and David, daughter-in-law Stella, grandchildren Tadhg, Eoin, Clodagh Conor, Caoimhe and Ronan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours . Sadly missed by his friends and fellow Gaels in the G.A.A. community

Reposing at Maher’s Chapel of Rest, Portarlington (eircode R32 X5XV) on Monday evening from 4pm with Removal at 6pm arriving St Mary Mother Of God Church, Daingean (eircode R35 E862) at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 11am. Funeral afterwards to St Coleman’s Cemetery, Kilclonfert, Daingean (eircode R35 H280).

Alice (Patricia) Buckley (née Walsh)
Coolock, Dublin/Ballybrittas, Laois

Buckley Alice (Patricia) (nee Walsh) 6th December 2023 Coolock and formerly of Ballybrittas, Laois, peacefully in Beaumont Hospital with her family by her side. Predeceased by her husband Thomas. Alice will be very sadly missed by her sons Brendan and Gerard, daughter Niamh and step daughter Anne, her extended family, friends and neighbours.

Reposing at Jennings Funeral home, Coolock, on Monday 18th December from 2pm-4pm.

Removal on Tuesday morning, 19th December, to Fingal Cemetery for burial at 11.30am
