Clonenagh National School, Mountrath, will hosts its Annual Tractor Run on Thursday, December 28, in Coolrain Village.
This fundraising event has proven to be a great day out for all the family and promises the usual excitement with the Tractor Run taking place alongside the 6km Fun Run/Walk, all-day long free refreshments, music and the Monster Auction.
The day starts with the 6km Family Fun Run/Walk around the beautiful countryside near Coolrain village at the foot of the Slieve Bloom mountains.
This is a great way to work off the excesses of Christmas. All ages are welcome to join the Run/Walk.
Registration will take place at 11am in Hogan’s Pub, Coolrain (€10 for adults, €5 for secondary school students, free for primary school students), with the runners and walkers setting off at 11.30am.
Next up will be the Annual Tractor Run which is a sight to behold as the tractors and vintage cars work their way through the village and along the route.
Registration for the Tractor Run takes place at 1pm in Hogan’s Pub and the tractors and cars will set off at 2pm.
The now-famous tractor run stew will be served to the drivers after the run in Hogan’s pub, and all drivers will receive a memento to remember the day.
The event will finish with the Monster Auction in Hogan’s Pub at 8.30pm with many impressive lots being auctioned on the night.
Resident Auctioneer, Joe Shirley, is often the highlight of the night and ensures that everyone enjoys the night.
Furthermore, this year there is an exciting addition to the day’s events.
A pupil from the school, Richard Lalor, has agreed to shave his mullet on the day in order to raise funds for the school.
Everyone can sponsor Richard by donating at the following link: www.idonate.ie/cause/ClonenaghNS
The annual fundraiser is a very enjoyable day for all and people are encouraged to join in for some exercise, some tractors and lots of fun!
