A young Laois teenager is set to perform on the Late Late Toy Show on Friday night after impressing judges during auditions.
Fiachra Dooley, who is 13 and from Borris-in-Ossory, is a very talented singer and made a big impression when attending auditions during the summer.
He was duly chosen to take part and has been at rehearsals in RTE over the past couple of weeks ahead of Friday’s performance.
A 1st year student in St Fergal’s in Rathdowney and a past pupil of St Joseph’s NS in Borris-in-Ossory, is the eldest child of Derek and Linda Dooley and older brother of Cora (10).
While the exact details of his song are being kept under wraps, he will be performing in the trad section.
“It’s been a great buzz,” says his dad Derek, well-known as a singer too as one of the ‘Dooley Brothers’ who play across the midlands.
“The day of the auditions went really well. The judges came out straight away afterwards for chat and sat down and said how delighted they were with him.
“We were called back after that and have been up to RTE a couple of time since for rehearsals.
“It’s a great buzz and he’s really looking forward to Friday night now. His sister Cora is a bit jealous that he’s getting to go to the Toy Show but she’s very proud of him!”
Friday’s Toy Show airs on RTE 1 at 9.30pm and will be the first one presented by new host Patrick Kielty.
