Division 3 Girls Championship
Molly O’Reilly was absolutely outstanding as Killeen began the first of their finals with a comeback victory over Gaelscoil Phortlaoise.
The midfielder contributed seven points as her side recovered from a slow start to claim Division 3 glory.
Gaelscooil Phortlaoise started this game really well and burst into a big lead against Killeen.
Edel Ramsbottom, daughter of former Laois star Greg, was excellent in this period as she curled over three lovely points and smashed in a goal.
While Janelle Mukiza struck for another goal and Eilis Ni Riagain also contributed a point.
Killeen were on the rack but showed incredible character to battle back and were right in the game by half time.
The excellent Molly O’Reilly slotted four points while Molly McGrath also pointed from a tight angle.
And McGrath was involved right at the end when her long ball was won by Ava Knowles and she slotted it to the net.
That left it Gaelscoil 2-4 Killeen 1-5 – just a point in it.
Killeen continued to push forward when play resumed and hit the front for the first time thanks to points from O’Reilly and Knowles.
Gaelscoil Phortlaoise needed a response and they got it when Caoimhe de Paor battled extremely hard to win possession and then finished a shot ruthlessly to the net.
It was frantic now and the next strike came courtesy of Killen sub Sadhbh Brennan who finished a fantastic solo run with a goal.
Molly O’Reilly then slotted her seventh point of the afternoon to give Killeen a bit of a cushion heading into the closing stages.
And that was enough to see them crowned champions.
