Ballyadams National School bid slán, buíochas agus beannacht to one of it’s greatest school servants last week following the retirement of long serving Deputy Principal Mr Máirtín Mullooly.
Hailing from Rathmore in Kerry, Máirtín Mullooly has been ever present in Ballyadams NS since 1996 and inspired generations of families who have been part of the school community over his 27+ years serving the school community with distinction.
Last week all the staff in Ballyadams NS, pupils, parents and families came together to show their appreciation of Máirtín’s unwavering commitment and dedication to the school community throughout his wonderful teaching career.
The school hosted a very special Whole School Assembly for Máirtín and his wife Bríd where each class performed a medley of beautiful songs with very much a Kerry theme for the much loved Mr Mullooly.
A special book of poems and messages was presented to Mr Mullooly on behalf of the children and families in the school and Mr Mullooly was presented with gifts on behalf of the parents and children in the school.
Tears of happiness were shed as the school celebrated the career of one of our greatest servants.
Mr Mullooly praised the children for their wonderful singing, commended them on their talents and urged them to explore and realise their wonderful talents in the future.
Máirtín will always be associated with his traditional 6th Class ‘Bell Ringing’ Graduation celebration in Ballyadams N.S where he rang the bell and led our 6th Class pupils out the school doors for a final time.
Last Friday, the school performed the Bell Ringing Ceremony for Máirtín himself as the school celebrated his stellar career and wonderful contribution to the school community.
Mr Mullooly spoke to all the parent and former pupils who gathered in the school yard, thanking all those who had gathered and complementing the special connection between families and the school over his many years, echoing the school motto of ‘Ní neart go cur le chéíle’.
Last week also marked a special gathering of Máirtín’s current and former colleagues, friends, Board Of Management, Parents Council and guests in the school.
It was a lovely gathering in celebration of the career of a very special person who made a positive and lasting difference in Ballyadams NS.
Presentations were made to Máírtín and speeches filled with warm stories, thanks and appreciation were made by Ms Anna Malone on behalf of the school staff, Ms Marion Flynn Chairperson of the Parents Council, Fr Dan Dunne Chairperson of the Board Of Management, Principal Rory Stapleton and Brendan Dunne Chairperson St. Joseph’s GAA.
Máírtín spoke to all those present and in true Mr Mullooly style commended all those in the school community who made his career and time in Ballyadams so enjoyable and memorable.
