Flood lights are of massive benefit to sports clubs in Ireland, especially in the dark autumn and winter months.
Laois County Council has this week given permission for two local GAA clubs to begin the installation of this vital amenity.
Emo GAA club and The Heath GAA club may now begin works on their respective developments, with floodlighting the centre-piece of both.
Emo GAA received the go-ahead to install erect six 18-metre-high floodlights at their main pitch.
36 solar-panel lights are also to be installed along the perimeter walkway.
Additionally, the project will include the construction of a new ball wall, and all associated site works.
Meanwhile, The Heath GAA have also been granted permission to erect floodlights to their second football pitch.
Like Emo, The Heath’s planning application includes the installation of lighting on their existing walking track.
