First-year students of Mountrath Community School took to the corridors of their school to celebrate the annual ‘Fright Night’.
Organised by the Film Club, this night includes a haunted tour of the school, where students had to brave the halls, meeting some interesting and scary characters along the way.
Students were treated to scary stories, treasure hunts, short movies, and the dreaded interrogation room.
Event organiser, Ms. Aoife Carroll said: “We had an amazing night and thank you to everyone involved.
“It was great to see such creativity from the students in the school.”
After the tour, first-year students were given some treats, and had a chance to mingle with their friends and dance to some Halloween themed music.
To finish off the night, best dressed students were given a prize of their creativity and originality:
- 1st place – Liam Hourigan
- 2nd place – Alex Podmisanins
- 3rd place – Arawyn Davy
First-year student, Charley Mortimer said: “It was a scary and fun night. Seamus our caretaker was the scariest!”
Jake Cuddy, who is also in first year said: “My favourite part was the scary movie and the best costume was shark girl.”
The night was a huge success with over one hundred students attending, along with Film Club student and staff who helped to organise the night.
The event is expected to take place once again next year.
