Students in Laois, who are eligible for the SUSI grants, are being urged to complete their applications before the closing date on Thursday, November 2.
A package was recently announced with a number of measures designed to benefit students, including increases in student grants for this year and next.
Fine Gael Minister, Simon Harris announced the measures in this month’s Budget, which apply to all all eligible students who are in full time undergraduate degrees.
These measures include:
- Cuts to the student contribution fee for undergraduate students,
- Increases in student grants,
- Increased and extended renters’ tax credit,
- Extended public transport fare discounts.
Laois/Offaly Fine Gael TD, Charlie Flanagan urged families and students in Laois to apply for these grants before the closing date in early November.
“SUSI grants can make a huge difference to families of young students going to college, ” Deputy Flanagan said.
“The cost of going to college for many is too high and with Budget 2024 families and students are getting money back in their pockets.
“There is so much for those who are eligible to benefit from and I want them to avoid having to request a late application form from SUSI after the closing date.
“If you have any questions, please contact my office.”
