Autumn Open International Cross-Country
St Abban’s had five athletes make the journey to the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown for this year’s edition of the Autumn Open International Cross Country.
For many of the senior athletes in the club, the Autumn Open marks the beginning of their Cross Country season as they have progressed out of Novice and Intermediate grades within the county.
In the Senior Women’s event Cheryl Nolan finished in 11th place on her first showing over the country this year.
Cheryl will look to improve upon this as she aims towards the National Cross Country in Gowran in November.
In the Men’s race John Delaney finished in 30th place in the Junior category.
For the Masters athletes, this race provides them with an opportunity for qualification to the Masters International which will be held in Scotland later this month.
Siobhan Burke ran a strong race to finish in 6th in the F45 category, while Colin Coyne placed in 10th in the M45 category.
Dick Mullins cemented his place on the Masters International Trip to Scotland next month when taking victory in the M75 category.
Dick is no stranger to this International and the club would like to wish him all the best on the trip.
