Next Saturday, October 21, the Irish Prison Service and Portlaoise RFC will come together to remember a great colleague and a great friend.
The event will mark almost five months to the day since Will Sherlock passed away.
“Will was the type of character who made a huge impression on everyone he met and knew,” a representative said.
“In every sense of the word, Will was a larger than life character who will be missed by all who knew him.
‘Will Sherlock – A Day To Remember’, to be held in Togher rugby club, is aimed at bringing together all those who ever got to know Will, colleagues in the Prison Service, fellow members and players with Portlaoise RFC and other clubs and his family members.
Just as Will would have wanted, this will be a fun-filled day for all the family, all ages.
For the kids there will be bouncing castles and plenty of fun games.
For the bigger kids there will be a rugby match between Portlaoise RFC and the Prison Service at 5pm.
This will not be too serious, especially as some of Will’s team mates from years gone by expected to play, and if you would like to play just turn up to Togher at 4pm.
Earlier, at 3pm, there will be a tug-of-war and musical entertainment.
Later in the evening, there will be an auction of rugby memorabilia including signed jerseys, while there will also be raffle.
All money raised on the day will be donated to the Cuisle Centre in Portlaoise.
