County final fever is building across the county with several areas set to be involved in the football showpiece on Sunday.
And there was big excitement in Holy Family today as the boys and girls gathered to show their support for Portlaoise.
They will take on St Joseph’s in the SFC final at 3.30pm and the children were decked out in their colours.
And they were greeted by some very special guests as Kevin Swayne, Michael Dowling, Conor Raggett and Kieran O’Donnell visited.
The lads met all of the 3rd and 4th class groups in the hall firstly.
They answered a range of questions from their young supporters and then came back again shortly later to be quizzed by members of 5th and 6th.
A video of support was also played which documented all of the former students who now play for Portlaoise – an extensive list.
There was plenty of slagging too with principal Roisin Brennan a proud St Joseph’s supporter as is staff member Sean Dempsey.
They were flying the yellow and blue but they were well outnumber by the oceans of green and white around them.
Members of the Portlaoise minor team, who are contesting the ‘A’ Shield final against Killeshin on Thursday night, and are currently doing work experience in the school, were also present.
