Gerard (Gerry) McDonald of Drumcondra, Dublin 9 and formerly of Lower Rossmore, Carlow, passed away unexpectedly, on September 26th, 2023.
Beloved son of the late Paddy and Anne McDonald and cherished brother of Breda Cotter (Ashbourne), John, Mary (May) (Dublin), Tom, Bernadine Mulhall (Arles), Lucia (Dublin), Paddy, Claire Gilroy (Dublin) and the late Anne Sheehan (Kerry).
He will be sadly missed by his loving brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunt Sheila, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, relatives and friends.

Rose Walsh (nee Bonham). Summerhill Lane, Portlaoise. Oct 3rd 2023. Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Son. Dearly loved mother to Deirdre, Jacinta, Niall, Mark, Alan, Aisling and Ciaran (Stan). Cherished grandmother to her 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Deeply regretted by her loving family, sister Nellie, sisters in law, sons and daughters in law John, Alison, John, Geraldine, John, and Carmel, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and former colleagues in St Fintans Hospital.
Reposing at her family residence from 2 pm on Wednesday with rosary at 8 pm. Removal on Thursday to arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church for 2 pm mass. Interment will take place in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery afterwards.

Br. Malachy (Jimmy) Buckley, De La Salle Brothers, Castletown, Portlaoise, Co. Laois and late of Farendoyle, Kanturk, Co. Cork. October 2nd. 2023 (peacefully) in the loving care of the community and staff of Miguel House. Predeceased by his parents Daniel and Mary, sister Moira (Fitzpatrick)), brothers Timmy. Mikie, Dan and Willie, Deeply missed by his brothers Joe (Ballyclough), Tony (Mullingar), sister Ann (Presentation Convent Matlock, England), sisters in law Mary, Ita, Tessie and Madeline, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, great-grandnephews, great-grandnieces, many relations and friends and especially by his confreres in religion and the staff in Miguel House Care Home.
Reposing in Miguel House, Castletown this Wednesday morning (Oct. 4th.) from 11 o’c with Evening Prayer and rosary at 7 pm. Funeral Mass in the adjoining St Edmunds Church Castletown Thursday (Oct.5th) at 2.15 pm., with burial immediately afterwards in the Monastery Cemetery, Castletown. EirCode R32 NX40.

Thomas (Tommy) Hogan, Coolowley, Errill, Co. Laois, October 2nd. 2023, peacefully in the company of his family at The Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise in his 100th year. Predeceased by his wife Peggy, son Tom, his parents, brothers and sisters. Deeply regretted by his loving family, Mary G. Ryan (Bealaclave, Rearcross), Catherine Mullally (Clonakenny), son John (Knock Hill) and Paul (Ballymeelish), daughters-in-law Judith and Ann, sons-in-law Tony and John, his adored grandchildren Denise, Ciara, Brian, Vincent, Liam, Jennifer, Marie and Antoinette, great-grandchildren Tom, Liam, Sean, Conor, Eoin, Kate, Johnny and Leah, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
Reposing at his residence (Eircode R32 V2T2) on Tuesday afternoon from 3 o’clock pausing for prayers at 8 o’clock. Removal on Wednesday morning to the Church of the Assumption, Killasmeestia arriving for Requiem mass at 12 noon followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.
Matthew Daniel Moore
Treascon, Portarlington, Laois, R32 YE63 / Emo, Laois
Matt died peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Una and Michael Moore and his brother Pat. Deeply mourned and sadly missed by his beloved wife Valerie, his children Amy, Conor, Kate and Ellie, sons in law Larry and Conor, daughter in law Aisling, his adored grandchildren Tadhg, Daire, Sadie, Matthew, John, Luke and Alannah.
Greatly missed by his brothers Frank and Michael and his sisters Goretti, Oonagh and Fidelis, Godson Rory, his brother in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.
Matt will be reposing at his residence on Tuesday from 3pm to 8pm with recital of the Rosary at 8pm.
Removal by Whelehan Funeral Directors on Wednesday morning to arrive at Saint Paul’s Church, Emo for 2pm Requiem Mass.
Interment to follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Killenard.

Brendan Hughes 40 Silverwood, Mountmellick Co. Laois and formerly Swords, Co. Dublin, died peacefully at home, October 1st 2023, in the company of his loving wife and family. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Christine, sons Darryl and Jason and family members.

Removal from his home on Wednesday morning arriving to St.Joseph’s Church, Mountmellick for Requiem Mass at 11am followed by cremation service at 1.30pm in Newlands Cross Crematorium.
