The Laois SHC semi finals took place in the most horrific weather conditions imaginable yesterday and yet produced two incredibly dramatic affairs.
We thought we had seen it all in the first game when Abbeyleix defeated Rathdowney-Errill after extra time.
Rathdowney-Errill, 1/3 favourites and the only side with a 100% record, were beaten by the 2022 Premier Intermediate champions.
It means that Abbeyleix will contest the SHC final for the first time since 1949.
But that is only half of the story as the other game between Camross and Clough-Ballacolla was even more dramatic.
It went all the way to penalties where Camross prevailed 2-1 and ended Ballacolla’s quest for four in a row.
Barry McEvoy and Alan Hartnett were in O’Moore Park yesterday and recorded live from there afterwards.
We also hear from Abbeyleix’s Fionan Mahony following their great win.
