A Laois GAA club are set to host an U-13 competition this Sunday to honour and remember one of their players who died tragically this year.
The Adam Kirwan Memorial Tournament will see Mountrath, Clonad-Trumera, Colt-Shanahoe, Camross, Castletown and Clough-Ballacolla take part.
Adam tragically passed away back in March following an accident in Thurles in Tipperary.
Adam was an extremely talented hurler who represented Laois at all levels up to U-20.
A hugely popular young man, he was a student in MIC St Pat’s of Thurles campus and recently helped the college to win a Ryan Cup.
He played on the Laois minor hurling team in 2018 and 2019 and with the county U-20 team for the past three years.
At club level he was a star forward with Trumera, helping them to win the 2021 intermediate hurling title.
Trumera confirmed details of the tournament and said: “The Adam Kirwan Memorial U-13 Hurling Tournament will take place this Sunday, September 17 at 10am in Trumera GAA pitch.
“We all know how Adam loved to hurl from a very young age.
“We look forward to meeting you all Sunday. Everyone is welcome.”
