It was a historic weekend for Laois Hockey Club, who played their first game as a new club on Saturday, September 9.
Both the first and second teams were in action with a friendly game at home to neighbouring club, Carlow.
The game came one week ahead of Laois HC’s debut season in the Leinster Hockey League.
Laois firsts stepped onto the pitch with temperatures over twenty degrees, making playing conditions extremely difficult.
Amy Moynan made her own little piece of history, scoring the club’s maiden goal.
Carlow went 2-1 in front before Ellen Harvey equalised, but the visitors found a winner late on.
This game was a great opportunity to knock the cobwebs off before the league gets underway.
LAOIS FIRTS: Jessica Shirley, Karen Fingleton, Susan Fingleton, Laragh Wilkinson, Ellen Harvey, Beck O’Connor, Ruth Wilkinson, Amy Moynan, Jenny Keegan, Esme Van De Bergh and Grace Cunningham.
