SOSAD Laois hosting charity golf classic this weekend in bid to keep their doors open

The Laois branch of SOSAD Ireland – a mental health support charity – is at serious risk of closing their doors.

This comes less than two years after the opening of the Portlaoise-based suicide prevention centre.

The charity offer free professional counselling sessions to anyone in need – but now they are the ones who find themselves in need.

SOSAD is located at Shamrock House, across the street from EV Condell Ltd on the Abbeyleix Road.

Funding for the charity is comes from donations raised in Laois, with all the money staying in the county.

Without Government funding, however, the charity is on the brink of closure.

In an effort to raise emergency funds, the charity are hosting golf classic, this Friday and Saturday, September 8 and 9.

Portlaoise Golf Club will be the venue, with tee times available from 2pm to 5pm on Fiday and 8am to 5m on Saturday.

Entry is €100 for teams of four, with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Book here or call (057) 86 61 557.

This is a great cause which deserves as much support as possible.
