We are less than two days away from the start of Electric Picnic and excitement is building in Stradbally ahead of the event.
After a busy few days, the Electric Picnic Residents’ Committee were thrilled to welcome some of the older and more vulnerable residents of Stradbally to jump on board the Electric Picnic bus to tour the grounds of Cosby Hall.
The fine weather and festival atmosphere saw some 150 older residents tour the Electric Picnic grounds with the help of the Residents’ Committee and Age Friendly Laois.
The residents’ committee were delighted to be able to continue this initiative in 2023 and extend it to all older residents within the Stradbally catchment area.
Residents from Dromnin Nursing home also joined the excursion with their carers for a trip to the picnic!
After the fun and frolics of the tour, the entourage of buses headed back down to Court Square where they were treated to come light refreshments and musical entertainment in Dunnes Bar and Lounge.
Vivienne Phelan, Chairperson of the 2023 Electric Picnic Residents’ Committee said: “We were thrilled to host this community-focused event which allowed many local people to enjoy the festive atmosphere and see the sights of Electric Picnic.
“It was particularly special for us as a committee to be able to bring smiles to the faces of residents who may not otherwise attend the festival.
“We are very thankful to Festival Republic for facilitating our many buses and we wish them all the best for a safe and successful event this weekend”
The 2023 Electric Picnic Residents Committee would like to thank local residents for their continued support and remind them to contact committee members if any issue arises.
