HER Outdoors week aims to celebrate and encourage more females to get out and enjoy the benefits of being in the outdoors while bringing visibility to the opportunities for females to get involved in outdoor physical activity.
This year’s event took place from August 14 to 20.
The week provides an opportunity for ALL females to escape to the outdoors and try something new.
For such a tiny island, there are so many incredible outdoor activities on offer, and this should be celebrated to the fullest.
Laois Sports Partnership collaborated with several local partners to bring a fun, outdoor schedule of events to Laois! 13 free and subsidised events were organised for HER Outdoors week with a further 8 ongoing programmes concluding with HER Outdoors week.
In total, 386 females took part in events delivered during the week, with over 200 participating in HER Outdoor specific events.
Liam Kelly, Laois LSP Community Sports Development Officer said:
“Laois Sports Partnership, in conjunction with Sport Ireland and HER Outdoors week, are delighted to support initiatives that provide exciting opportunities for females to get involved in outdoor activities throughout County Laois.
“In conjunction with several sports’ clubs, community groups and our activity hubs across the county, we were able to offer a diverse range of experiences, catering to all fitness levels.
“HER Outdoors week provides an excellent opportunity to make people aware of many of the activities and clubs available throughout the county with events for both adventure enthusiasts and those seeking more leisurely pursuits on offer.
“It was great to see a demand for all the programmes delivered with many of the participants expressing a desire to get involved with various clubs involved.
“HER Outdoors week provides the perfect opportunity for participants to get out and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life while also showcasing many of County Laois’s picturesque surroundings.”
