Laois County Council has given the go-ahead for four new apartment blocks to be constructed in Mountmellick.
Corrigeen Building Company Ltd had sought planning permission in September of 2022, with plans finally getting over the line yesterday, August 24.
The development is earmarked for Davitt Road, at a site beside the national school.
The project will begin with the demolition of an existing building to make way for the new development.
The four apartment blocks will each be two-storey buildings, with eight apartments in each block, for a total of 32 new apartments in the town.
The development will include bin bays and cycle shelters.
There will be a sizable 61 parking spaces.
Site entrance and all associated site works will also be carried out.
The planning application may be inspected, or purchased at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, at the offices of the planning authority during its public opening hours.
A natura impact statement will be submitted to the planning authority with the application, which will be available for inspection or purchase.
