Tiamhoe Ladies set to take to the road for massive 24 hour fundraiser

Timahoe Ladies Walk

Timahoe Ladies football club are gearing up for a huge 24 hour fundraiser that will take place this weekend.

They will host a 24-hour walk-a-thon at Stradbally GAA grounds from 3pm on Saturday, August 19, to 3pm on Sunday.

This is the first time they have taken on such a challenge and a celebratory BBQ will take place on the Sunday following the completion of the walk.

The nursery, U-8s, U-10s and Minors will get the walk underway from 3pm.

While the seniors, juniors and members of the Mothers and Others will walk throughout the night.

Then it will be the turn U-12s, U-14s and U-16s to bring it home.

Each slot is an hour long and any slot is open to the public/parents and anyone that wants to support.

Timahoe Ladies Chairman Maurice Deegan and Secretary Eavonne Donoghue encouraged people to support them.

They said: “Timahoe Ladies are about providing a safe and nurturing environment for all our young girls to enjoy Gaelic Games.

“We want our girls to develop and achieve their full potential, while promoting fair play, respect and equality.

“These are qualities which we believe all young girls need to progress in life. What better way to develop these qualities than through the medium of sports.

“Currently we have 200 girls involved with playing with our club, ranging in age from 4 years to Senior Level. We now also have a mothers 4 others team.

“To that end, any support that can be given to us for this special fundraiser will be much appreciated.

“We would also like to thank Stradbally GAA for the kind use of their facilities for the weekend.”
