The Mountrath Festival Committee are bringing the 80’s back for a fun Hawaii themed disco.
Eddie Kirwan’s marquee will be turned into an 80’s Hawaii getaway on Saturday, August 19, to help raise funds for new Christmas lights for the town.
The Committee, headed by local Cllr James Kelly, expects a massive turnout on the night, with DJ Paul K on the decks.
“The Mountrath Festival Committee fundraising drive continues with an Carribean styled disco in Eddie Kirwans on Saturday, August 19,” Cllr Kelly said.
“The committee really appreciate the support of the community as all monies raised go towards Mountrath’s Christmas lights.
“We are always seeking to improve our Christmas Lights in the town and with the great work of our committee and the support of local businesses we will continue to do so.
“We were delighted with the response we received last year, the whole community came out to support us.
“It takes a lot of money to upgrade and keep our Christmas Lights every year and we have plans for new lights in new locations but we can’t do it without our community’s continued support.”
The 80’s disco is a ticketed event tickets cost €15 with a raffle planned for the night with lots of prizes.
“What could be a better way to raise funds for our Christmas Lights then to have a Hawaiian inspired 80s disco? Hawaii Five-0 meets Mountrath,’ Julie Bennett, Committee PRO said.
“Organising events like these are hugely important, not only do the raise vital funds but they bring our community together.
“We look forward to another great night for everyone-doors open at 9pm so get there early.’
“If you still haven’t got your tickets you can still buy some in Centra and Spar in Mountrath – but hurry you won’t want to miss out.”
