Laois County Council have given the go-ahead for a new childcare facility just outside Borris-in-Ossory.
The project will involve changing the use, style and design of the old Ballaghmore National School.
Grainne Harte on behalf of Caterpillars Childcare sought planning permission back in June, with the Council giving the green light last week.
It will be the 4th facility under the umbrella of Caterpillars Childcare, who currently have three schools operating in Tipperary.
Established in 2006, Caterpillars Childcare are located in Nenagh, Rearcross and Newport; their new school in Ballaghmore will be their first outside of Tipperary.
The development will also include the installation of a modular childcare building on the site.
Furthermore, a single storey extension will be constructed to connect the modular building to the existing building.
Child-safe fencing will be erected on the site and all associated ancillary site works will be carried out.
It is the latest project to improve the lives of young families in the area, following the opening of the new playground at the church in Borris town.
