The Laois Hurlers Golfing Society hosted their latest outing on Saturday last in the beautiful surroundings of Portlaoise Golf Club.
Showing a natural talent for the game, Camross man, Zane Keenan, claimed top spot on the day.
Paul Delaney filled the runners up spot, closely followed home by Society Captain, Liam Corby. Brochan O’Reilly took fourth place.
Larry Phelan with a tremendous drive down the 11th took home the Longest Drive prize, while Joe Keenan beat all comers to clinch the nearest the pin title.
This was the Society’s first visit to Portlaoise Golf Course.
“The course itself was in fine condition and apart from the odd drizzle the weather was pleasant throughout,” organisers said.
“The general hospitality was first class and we were made most welcome.
“All in all, it contributed to an excellent day’s golf.
“Society Captain, Liam Corby, will host our next Outing which is scheduled for Abbeyleix Golf Course.
“If you played hurling at any level and hold a GUI handicap you are more than welcome to join us for a great day of golf and a chance to reminisce about the good old days.”
