Laois County Council has announced it will hold workshops to help local clubs and organisers who wish to apply for the Sports Capital Programme 2023.
The announcement came in response to Local Fine Gael Cllr, Conor Bergin, who raised the motion at the monthy meeting of the County Council this week.
Mr Donal Brennan, Director of Services said:
“As is common when such national support grants are made available, staff in the Sports and Community Section will once again go see the clubs and organisations to talk to them about planning applications.
“The Sport and Leisure Section will deliver workshops for community groups, clubs, and other eligible organisations in partnership with Laois Public Participation Network to assist wit the preperation of the Sports Capital Programme for 2023.
Cllr Bergin thanked Mr Brennan for the response and said that Sport & Leisure Officer, Ann Marie Maher provides fantastic assistance and that there is a lot of work involved in the applications.
The application process officially began on Monday, July 17.
In the past, many communities in Laois have benefited from this funding and many projects have been delivered by Laois clubs, organisations and community groups.
Local projects can apply for up to €200,000, increased from the previous maximum grant of €150,000.
The maximum valid grant available for projects deemed to be of regional significance has been increased from €300,000 to €500,000.
