Congratulations to Rushall National School, who have been awarded their 6th Green Flag.
The children and teachers created a wonderful atmosphere, celebrating their achievement with a school barbecue.
After lunch, sixth class raised the 6th Green flag with pride, as all pupils and staff looked on with great appreciation.
Next the school held its first BBQ, described as “a huge, delicious success.”
Cooks Anne Phelan and Mr Monaghan, worked hard to serve up plate after plate of tasty food.
Children enjoyed hot dogs topped with lettuce fresh from the school’s planters and potato chips straight from the school garden.
Following the BBQ everyone enjoyed Strawberries that were picked right from the school garden.
“A lot hard work and dedication went into achieving this flag, and the previous five flags,” the school said.
“There was a great sense of pride to see the green flag fluttering high in the wind along with the 6 pennants achieved so far.
“It was a lovely sight to see children learning about where the food came from, being introduced to new tastes and textures and enjoying their beautifully grown produce.
“It was the perfect end to a perfect day at Rushall National School.”
