The 33rd FAI International Awards ceremony took place last night and a Laois striker was among the winners.
Peter Grogan, of Crettyard United and a student in Carlow CBS, was named the U-18 Schools International Player of the Year.
These awards were held in The Round Room in The Mansion House on Tuesday night to honour those who have excelled over the last year.
Taking in performances from June 2022-June 2023, the annual awards brought together many people to celebrate those who have made a big impact on Irish football.
Peter Grogan began his soccer career with Crettyard United before moving on to CK United.
He then signed for Bohemians where he was part of the U-19 side, alongside fellow Laois lad Aaron Doran, that won League of Ireland U-19 Enda McGuill Cup last year.
Grogan was named U-17 Bohemians Player of the Year later that year and his international debut soon followed.
Grogan made an instant impact with an assist on his debut against Australia.
Ireland then took part in the Century Shield where Grogan scored his first goal against Wales.
This award is another notch on the belt and Grogan joins prestigious company as a number of prominent players have won this over the years.
These include Kevin Doherty (1998), Stephen Ward (2003), Seanie Maguire (2012), Alan Browne (2013), Ryan Manning (2014), Neil Farrugia (2017) and Ali Reghba (2018).
