A 25-acre block of land in Ballinakill sold recently for €585,000 or €23,400 per acre at an online auction.
Hennessey Auctioneers were the agents for the block of land which is located down a cul-de-sac road at the back of Heywood College and accessed via a right of way laneway.
There is an old derelict farmhouse present on the lands with electricity. The land is in an area of high sand deposits (Sandpits close by).
It was offered for sale in 3 lots by online auction:
- Lot 1 the entire circa 25 acres
- Lot 2 circa 17 acres
- Lot 3 circa 8 acres
There were five registered bidders mainly from the locality.
All intending bidders had to register with Hennessy Auctioneers by 1pm on Tuesday, May 2, with a bidding deposit paid prior to the sale.
After five rounds of bidding, it was decided to put the entire on the market at €480,000.
After competitive bidding it was successfully sold at €585,000 (€23,400 per acre) to an auctioneer on behalf of a client in trust.
