MCS Transition Year Student Wins Essay Competition and Trip to European Parliament
Transition Year student, Olivia Parlon, has won the annual essay competition run by MEP Sean Kelly, earning a three-day trip to the European Parliament in Brussels.
Olivia’s essay focused on the impact that the EU has had on Ireland, and her thoughtful and insightful analysis impressed the judges.
The essay competition, which is open to students across Ireland, aims to encourage young people to engage with politics and learn more about the role of the European Union in shaping policy and governance.
This year’s topic was particularly relevant given the ongoing discussions around Brexit and the future of the EU.
As the winner of the competition, Olivia will have the opportunity to visit the European Parliament in Brussels and learn more about how the institution works and the role that MEPs play in shaping policy and legislation.
All at MCS are incredibly proud of Olivia and her achievement, and know that she will make the most of this amazing opportunity.
