The Mountrath Town Strategy Group are set to host the official launch of the ‘Mountrath Sustainable Communities Town Plan’ at an event this Tuesday in St Fintan’s Hall.
The group was set up to create a Town Plan for Mountrath to help make the town a better place for people to enjoy.
After three years of work, residents will be able to see the results through a computer simulation as Mountrath’s Future Vision will be presented by an online 3D viewer, created by UrbanARQ.
“This Sustainable Communities Plan for Mountrath town has been developed using public consultation to develop policies and projects that will impact on the economic, social, infrastructural, visual and on-going development of our community,” the organisers said.
The town is home to the successful Bloom HQ community and business hub, but has suffered several shop closures in recent years.
It is hoped that the plan will pave the way to applying for funding and grants for local clubs, businesses and community groups, who, without a plan in place, previously had no access to such opportunities.
The project is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
The official launch takes place on Tuesday evening, April 18 at 7.30pm in St Fintans Hall, in the church grounds. All are welcome.
