The county is still reeling from the tragic passing of David Brown just more than a week ago.
David was a lover of sport and represented the Laois hurlers, his local club, Portlaoise, and his school, Portlaoise CBS.
In honour of David, Portlaoise GAA club has put their full weight behind a cause near and dear to the young man’s heart.
Jame Mannion is a ten-year-old boy, who loves music, water, swings, trampolines, and tractors.
Jamie is 10 years old and lives with his Mom, Dad, Big Brother Ryan, and dog Coco.
Jamie has a rare disorder that remains undiagnosed after many tests and investigations.
As a result, Jamie has complex medical and support needs. He has refractory (drug-resistant) epilepsy, is non-speaking and is a wheelchair user.
His disability also significantly impacts his sensory system, meaning he has difficulty focusing, regulating his system, and knowing where his body is in space.
Portlaoise GAA said: “This charity was important to David, it’s important to his family, and therefore it’s important to us.
“It’s to help a 10 year old boy who cannot walk but will be able to do so hopefully with your support.
“Please support if you can at all, and honour the memory of our beloved and hugely missed David Brown.”
The Go-Fund-Me has so far raised close to €20,000 of its €45,000 goal.
