A Laois secondary school has come together in recent weeks to raise thousands of Euro for charity in memory of one of their former students.
Last year, teenager Eoin Coss passed away at the age of 14 following a battle with cancer.
And last week, his former classmates and teachers at Mountmellick Community School came together to remember him.
From March 27 to 31, they engaged in a series of fundraising efforts for LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.
LauraLynn is a hospice for children with life-limiting conditions and residential care for children and young adults with disabilities.
They employ approximately 140 staff within our teaching, fundraising and care provision departments.
The students raised money by selling lines for a sponsored walk and also tickets for an extravaganza which took place on Friday.
And the teachers got in on the act too – promising to complete a challenge themselves based on the money raised.
Three of the teachers dressed up as nuns, others dressed up as superheroes and princesses.
While Naas and Kildare footballer, Eoin Doyle who is the Deputy Principal, wore a Dublin jersey for the day.
Several teachers also took on the ice-bucket challenge with many students happy to oblige.
Others were pelted with eggs, had their faces smushed with cream and one agreed to only move around the school for the day using a wheelbarrow!
Mr Duffy agreed to have his mustache shaved off while another teacher had his legs waxed.
The fundraising efforts culminated on Friday with a mini Electric Picnic extravaganza which took place in the school and featured the brilliant band Transmittor.
All the teacher challenges were captured in this brilliant video below.
