Former Portarlington manager Martin Murphy is to take over as Offaly senior football boss following the sad passing of Liam Kearns.
There was widespread shock and sadness on Sunday evening when it was announced that the Kerry native had passed away.
Kearns, a former Laois, Tipperary and Limerick manager, had only taken up the Offaly job late last year.
They are currently in Division 3 of the National League where they are still in the hunt for promotion.
Murphy will be in charge for Saturday’s game away to Tipperary and then the following week against Down.
A decision for the championship will be made then but it is expected that the Gracefield man will stay on.
Former Knockbeg College teacher John Rouse, who was Kearns’ other selector, will continue in his role.
With former Galway All-Ireland U-20 winning manager Alan Flynn now doubling up as a coach and selector.
Liam uneral will arrive at St. Senan’s Church, Clonlara for Requiem Mass on Thursday, March 16, at 11am.
The service will be streamed live here. Burial afterwards in St. Nessan’s Cemetery, Mungret.
May he Rest in Peace.
