Adam Kirwan died after involved in a fatal single vehicle road traffic incident that occurred in the early hours of Thursday, March 2, at College Green in Thurles, Tipperary.

The Laois senior hurlers suffered their third consecutive defeat in Division 1 of the National League, as they were completely out-classed by Kilkenny in O’Moore Park.
The loss came on the back of two heavy defeats at the hands of Tipperary and Waterford in the opening two rounds.

There are new faces on the Laois GAA executive with the role of Coaching Officer formally filled at Monday night’s county board meeting as well as that of football committee chairman.
Brian Quinn, a Monaghan native who is a recent treasurer of O’Dempsey’s GAA club, was elected as coaching officer, filling the vacancy left idle since Fergal Byron’s five-year term came to an end at last year’s convention.
Meanwhile, Portarlington’s Tony Bambrick junior has been appointed as football committee chairman to replace Kieran Kehoe who had to vacate the position after being elected as vice chairman of the county board.

A meeting in Laois has heard how a farmer found a load of adult nappies dumped in one of his fields recently.
The farmer, based in Trumera, made the grim discovery recently and alerted Independent Councillor James Kelly.

The County Council has been called upon to provide light to what has been described as ‘the darkest road in Laois’.
The call was made at a recent meeting of the Borris-In-Ossory-Mountmellick Municipal District by Independent Councillor Ollie Clooney.
