Clonenagh

A fundraising tractor and fun run held in aid of a Laois primary school at the end of last year proved a big success.

After a two year absence, Clonenagh National School in Mountrath welcomed the return of their annual Tractor Run on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

The Tractor Run took place along with the Family Fun Run/Walk and the Monster Auction in Coolrain village.

This fundraising event has proven to be a great day out for all the family in the past and this didn’t disappoint.

A spokesperson said: “Clonenagh National School, Mountrath, were delighted with the success of their all-day fundraising event on Wednesday 28th December 2022 in Coolrain village and would like to thank everyone involved.

“The proceeds of the fundraiser will go towards renovation of the playground at the school. Even with the gloomy weather, there was a great turnout for the 6km Family Fun Run/Walk near Coolrain at the foot of the Slieve Bloom mountains.

“The Walk/Run was followed by the Annual Tractor run, with great excitement as the convoy of tractors of all sizes and differing vintages left Coolrain village and headed off around the countryside.

“The day finished on a high with the Monster Auction in Hogan’s Pub where many items were auctioned by talented MC Joe Shirley.

“Clonenagh National School would like to thank everyone who helped to make the day such a great success and all of those who donated to the auction and in other ways.

“In addition, the organisers would like to thank a number of local businesses who supported the event.

“CJ Sheeran, Emo Oil, Spar Mountrath, Eddie Phelan’s Restaurant, Telfords Mountrath, Glanbia, Workshop Gym Mountrath, E.V. Condell, Joe Moore Buses, Ross Cooper Handyman, Ciara Gyves Signs, Liffey Mills and Earley’s Garage Kilkenny.”
