There is deep sadness in Portlaoise College following the unexpected passing of one of their staff members.
Vanda Rafter (née Szwaglis), from Glenside in Portlaoise, passed away unexpectantly at Portlaoise Hospital on Tuesday February 7.
She worked in the canteen in Portlaoise College for many years where she was loved by staff and students alike.
The school posted a tribute to the late Vanda on their Facebook page.
They said: “Our staff member Vanda Raffer passed away unexpectedly.
“Vanda was a massive part of life in Portlaoise College and this news will come as a great shock to the whole school community.
“We are all thinking of her family and friends at this most difficult of times.
“May Vanda rest in peace.”
Vanda is predeceased by her darling husband David, her mother Esther and father in law Martin.
She is deeply regretted by her adoring children Stefan and Amy as well as Stefan’s partner Jennifer.
Also by her loving father Les, sisters Philomena and Rita, brothers Les (Jnr) and Clive.
Vanda is also missed by her mother in law Betty Rafter, much loved nieces and nephews, Grandnieces and Grandnephews, Cousins and her aunts Vanda and Christine. And her dear sister in law and friend Martina.
Her sisters in law and brothers in law. Her neighbours, work colleagues and a large circle of friends.
Vanda will be reposing at Keegan’s funeral home on Thursday from 6.30pm with rosary at 8pm.
Removal on Friday to SS Peter and Pauls church for 12 noon Requiem mass. Interment afterwards in SS Peter and Pauls cemetery Portlaoise.
