A number of infant students in St Colman’s NS in Stradbally are set to feature in an art exhibition this week.
St Colman’s NS in Stradbally were recently awarded a ‘BLAST Arts in Education Residency’, the aim of of which is to provide pupils with the time and space to work with a professional artist on creative projects.
The school offered this opportunity to Junior and Senior infants this year with the pupils working with local artist Orla McDonagh where they launched the project with an exploratory walk around Cosby Estate last Thursday.
Orla spent time working with the children in class last week and their work will now go on display in The Arthouse in Stradbally who have given the school use of their gallery space so the children can exhibit their work.
Three of the infant classes have been working alongside Orla while the fourth class are working on a separate project alongside another local artist Aisling Hennessy.
The exhibition is being officially launched on Thursday, February 9, from 7-7.30pm where students and parents are invited to attend.
The exhibition will be running from February 8-10 from 2-5pm daily for any parents, member of the public to visit and admire the student’s work.
You can also access the exhibition through the library on Saturday, February 11, during library hours.
