Gardai in Laois have been very active on our roads in recent days as they made three arrests in separate incidents.
Yesterday, the Laois Roads Policing Unit stopped to check on a vehicle observed stopping on the hard shoulder of the M7.
Gardai say: “The driver was discovered to be disqualified from driving and arrested.
“The vehicle was seized and Court proceedings commenced.”
A day previous, Mountrath Gardai were on patrol when they came across a vehicle they believed was acting suspiciously.
The driver of the car then attempted to evade Gardai but it was eventually stopped.
Gardai say: “Mountrath Gardaí were on patrol recently when they observed occupants of a vehicle acting suspiciously.
“The driver of the vehicle attempted to evade Gardaí but the vehicle was subsequently stopped.
“The driver was found to be a learner driver with no Insurance, Tax or NCT.
“The driver was arrested and charged at Portlaoise Garda Station for Dangerous Driving and Driving without insurance.
“The driver was also issued with 5 fixed charge penalty notices for non display of insurance, tax, NCT, learner plates and for not being accompanied by a fully licensed driver.
“The vehicle was seized and court date to follow.”
While on Monday, Gardai detected a car travelling at almost 200km/h in Laois.
They say: “Laois Roads Policing Unit detected a vehicle travelling at 195kph on the M7 on near Portlaoise.
“The driver was arrested and has been charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court.”
