Well-known Stradbally woman Ann Simpson is set to be the first ‘Ad Break Hero’ on Operation Transformation – which is being recorded at Court Square in the town this Thursday, December 29.
Ann, who owns Simpson’s Gala shop in Stradbally and who is involved in a wide range of community groups, will lead the challenge with RTE’s Carl Henry.
Each week the Ad Break Challenge will move to a different area-to showcase the wonderful people, places groups, teams and organisations in Laois.
This year’s show is being filmed entirely in Stradbally in the Malt House, owned by the Bradshaw family.
“Ann was chosen as the first Ad Break Hero because of her enthusiasm, her positive outlook on and how she positively embraces a healthy lifestyle,” says organiser Kathleen Sheridan from the SVT (Stradbally-Vicarstown-Timahoe) Activity and Wellness Hub.
“Like most people Ann has had her own challenges in life but has overcome them, and is now looking forward to a happy and healthy retirement.
“Tomorrow Operation Transformation and the SVT Activity and Wellness Hub supported by Laois County Council are really looking forward to a big crowd at Court Square and having a bit of fun for the very first Ad Break Challenge to be recorded for the 2023 OT season,” adds Kathleen.
“Everybody is welcome to join Karl and Ann in a few easy exercises. People are asked to arrive at 5.45pm, park on Main Street if possible and dress comfortably for the weather.
“Also please be patient … in TV land it’s probably rare to get it right on the first take-so we could be there for a while.
“This recording will go out as part of Operation Transformation’s episode 1 on RTE 1 on Wednesday, January 4, after the 9o’clock News.
“Make sure to tune in where you will be guaranteed to see plenty of places and faces from Stradbally, Vicarstown , Timahoe and Lovely Laois.
“On January 6th it will be the turn of Vicarstown to lead the Ad Break Challenge, at Annanough GAA grounds, with their very own Ad Break Hero – so put that date in your diary!”
