One of the highlights of the year came in May when U-9 footballers from across the county descended on O’Moore Park for the big experience night.
The Laois GAA county grounds was buzzing on Monday night as U-9 footballers from all around the county descended on Portlaoise for the O’Moore Park experience night.
In all 22 different clubs were represented as over 500 young boys and girls played in the fun non-competitive Go Games.
Starting at 5pm on Monday evening, there were five time slots for clubs with up to six games going ahead at the same time.
And it was akin to a big match experience for the players, coaches and their parents.
The national anthem was played before the start of each game, the players’ names were called out by the stadium announcer and all players got to lift a trophy after the game.
This was the first time since 2019 that this event was held but is expected to become a regular annual fixture on the Laois GAA schedule.
Next week it is the turn of the U-9 hurlers who will get the same experience.
