This is an exciting opportunity to work with Laois Chamber Alliance, developing and promoting tourism for Laois.
Role: Tourism Development Executive
Location: Laois Chamber Alliance Office, Portlaoise
Reporting to: CEO of Laois Chamber Alliance
The Tourism Development Executive will be responsible for the development and enhancement of tourism in Laois, working with members to stimulate tourism growth in the county:
- Working with members to develop, enhance and promote tourism in Laois.
- Planning, writing, and executing various email marketing campaigns, including Laois Tourism’s regular newsletters.
- Organising member events, and attending conferences and exhibitions on behalf of Laois Chamber Alliance to promote Laois Tourism.
- Carrying out research of existing tourist attractions and events.
- Co-ordination of potential new tourist attractions, product packages and tours e.g. gardening, cycling golf etc.
- Working with the media and other local partner organisations to raise the profile of tourism in Laois, generating positive publicity for the county.
- Developing marketing content and utilising social media channels to promote Laois Tourism.
- Providing support and guidance on funding to new and existing tourism-related businesses.
- Working with the CEO to secure tourism development funding for Laois.
- Consulting with Laois-based tourism businesses to assess the effectiveness of current tourism development policies and to implement tourism strategies.
- Representing tourism on behalf of Laois Chamber Alliance on relevant boards and stakeholder groups, and liaising with the Tourism Officer in Laois County Council.
- Responsible for the day-to-day administration of tourism with Laois Chamber Alliance, growing and maintaining the tourism membership, and creating benefits for membership.
- Presenting to the Board of Laois Chamber Alliance and other stakeholders as and when required.
- Developing an excellent working relationship with the CEO of Laois Chamber Alliance.
The candidate will ideally have some previous experience within the tourism industry.
Skills and qualities
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- A can-do attitude and ability to use own initiative.
- Ability to liaise with community groups, stakeholders and the tourism industry
- Experience in the production of information and communication material
- Ability to work independently and within a team, both cohesively and efficiently
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Creativity and innovative strategic thinking along with good marketing skills.
- Strong IT and experience of a range of digital and social media platforms.
- Full clean driver’s licence
This is a full-time front-facing role and requires building personal relationships with stakeholders, therefore remote working will not be available. The successful candidate will be based in the Laois Chamber Alliance Office in Portlaoise with some travel required.
