The three-in-a-row Laois senior hurling champions have confirmed that they are searching for a new manager.
That is after Tipperary native Declan Laffan confirmed that he is stepping down as manager of Clough-Ballacolla following his appointment as a selector with Tipperary.
Laffan arrived in Laois in 2020 after a successful spell over his native Loughmore-Castleiney when they won both senior hurling and football titles.
Laffan’s led Ballacolla to glory in 2020 against Borris-Kilcotton after that final was delayed to 2021 due to Covid-19.
They completed the feat again three months later against the same opponents and that led them on another incredible journey.
Wexford and Dublin champions were slayed in Leinster as Clough-Ballacolla reached their first ever provincial final last Christmas.
They were defeated by Ballyhale Shamrocks but returned with intent in 2022.
Once again they defeated all comers in Laois to complete a three-in-a-row – defeating old foes Camross this time.
But they are now seeking a new manager as the club confirmed on Facebook that Laffan had stepped aside.
They said: “The club cannot put into words the incredible work and efforts Declan Laffan has put into our club the past three years.
“Our success on the field is only a mere glimpse of how great a position Declan is leaving the club in.
“Declan was a gentleman to work with and each and every one of our players and members are hugely grateful for his time and expertise.
“We want to extend a huge thank you to Declan, wish him the very best of luck with his new role with Tipperary as well as wishing him and his family a wonderful Christmas and a happy and peaceful New Year.”
