A Laois official was honoured at the Leinster GAA referee awards which took place recently.
The Heath’s Seamus Mulhare was presented with a medal by Leinster GAA chairman Pat Teehan.
This took place on Friday evening in the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore.
Seamus was honoured after he was chosen to referee two big Leinster GAA games this year.
He was the man in the middle for the Leinster Junior football championship final which Kilkenny won.
The Cats subsequently went on to defeat New York in the All-Ireland final in July.
Before that, Mulhare also refereed the Leinster U-20 football final between Kildare and Dublin.
This was a thrilling contest – unsurprisingly so as it had taken 100 minutes to split the teams in the minor final three years previous.
But Kildare, who had narrowly beaten Laois in Round 1, came through to win 0-17 to 0-15.
Seamus was joined on the night by fellow Laois GAA referee Padraig Dunne – who also officiates at provincial level.
